GlobiWell, headed up by hydrogeologist, Ruan van Jaarsveld have been conducting scientific research into the groundwater quality, in and around the towns of Hankey and Patensie.
The aim of the study was to use geophysics, geological mapping and borehole data to map and produce a groundwater salinity model of the area. The model aims to identify areas of high salinity groundwater and areas of moderate to low salinity groundwater. Such model will be very useful to farmers in the area considering drilling a borehole; as it will provide insight on the possible groundwater quality prior to drilling. In return saving the farmer money on unnecessary exploration drilling.
This model will be an incredible asset to GlobiWell’s hydrogeological team when siting borehole in the Hankey and Patensie area.
